Sterigenics has announced it will invest more than $10m to expand operations in Atlanta, Dallas and Belgium.

President of Sterigenics International Philip Macnabb said: "This past year has seen growing demand for our outsourced sterilisation services.

"We are making these strategic expansions, as well as our recently completed acquisition of FTSI, a gamma sterilisation operation outside of Tampa Florida, to prepare for anticipated growth in these areas."

The Atlanta facility, located for more than 20 years in Smyrna, Georgia, will add a 30 pallet ethylene oxide chamber, increasing processing capacity by two million cubic feet per year.

Space will be provided for an additional aeration room to accommodate increased production. The location offers sterilisation of medical products, validation capabilities and SteriPro lab services.

Sterigenics’s Dallas facility, located in Grand Prairie, Texas, will increase ethylene oxide processing capacity by three million cubic feet per year.

Sterigenics plans to produce expanded pre-conditioning and aeration rooms, with completion expected in January 2015.

The company operated at the site since 2003 and offers sterilisation of medical products, validation capabilities and SteriPro lab services.

Petit-Rechain, Belgium, one of the company’s largest locations, offers ethylene oxide sterilisation, SteriPro lab services, validation and cycle development capabilities.

A 32 pallet chamber will be installed, bringing the total number of chambers to 14.

The additional chamber will result in two million cubic feet of additional ethylene oxide processing capacity. It will be operational by the end of 2014.
