Sanofi has won the 2020 FOYA Category for Facility of the Future at their Digitally Enabled Integrated Continuous Biomanufacturing Facility in Frammington, USA.

Automation systems replace manual operations in biopharmaceutical production and play a central role in manufacturing coordination and documentation. Sanofi turned to Zenith to provide the automation and control solutions at its new state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility. The objective was to enable Integrated Continuous Biomanufacturing using both upstream and downstream disposable technology, as well as disposable technology for buffer and media preparation and distribution at their facility.
This facility integrated cutting edge Life Sciences 4.0 solutions and Lean Manufacturing principles combined with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies. The project included fully integrate process control, data collection and analytics. As a result, Sanofi has achieved higher capacity with a smaller footprint than traditionally achievable as well as reducing the time it takes to get the product from lab to the manufacturing plant.
The facility was recently recognised with the 2020 FOYA Category Winner for Facility of the Future award by the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE).
