The need for precision dosing of a product is one of the most frequent requests we receive from the pharmaceutical and food industries. It is sometimes necessary to divide a batch into smaller containers or packages; other times, it is essential to add an ingredient to a recipe with extreme precision and speed.

In recent years, our research and development (R&D) department has paid special attention to this aspect, dedicated and committed to meeting this growing demand.

Many years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and collaboration with our partners and clients encouraged us to start from what was already created, in order to conceive a new product that could offer the advantages of our current dosing valves: design, ease of maintenance, reliability and safety. In this way, we have created a new advanced solution capable of guaranteeing even greater dosing precision, speed and flexibility. This is how the Rotometering valve was born.

How is it composed?

This valve is an alternative to the Rotodoser valve (our fast feed and fine dosing valve), which shares with Rotometering an important part of its design: it consists of two coaxial dosing parts (actuated independently), which determine the flow of the product and its dosage.

While in both valves the main rotor ensures flow control, Rotometering precise dosage is no longer volumetric (entrusted to a mini rotor that discharges pocket after pocket as in the Rotodoser), but gravimetric (made by an open auger screw or hydraulic screw that guarantees continuous flow). In addition, as the auger screw is open, it will allow easy cleaning during the maintenance procedure.

How does it work?

The main rotor discharges the product at 180° in the reciprocating motion, while fine dosage is carried out by the internal auger screw that rotates at 360°.

What are the main advantages?

  • Its sanitary design
  • Allows the target to be reached with greater precision and flexibility
  • Particularly suitable for processes where the product does not flow easily; the auger screw movement allows the product to be physically transferred, favouring dosing

What are its main applications?

Ideal for weighing and packaging machines, feeding of hoppers.

As well as all SteriValves products, the Rotometering valve is also designed and manufactured in strict compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines to ensure safe use. Certifications and declarations included with this valve are detailed below:

  • EN 10204-3.1 certificate for material in contact with product for metal parts
  • FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 for elastomers
  • USP Class VI*
  • ATEX 2014/34 / UE*
