The company operates its business through five segments – US, Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and MetLife Holdings. Its US segment offers insurance and financial service products covering life, dental, disability, vision, accident and health, capital market investment, guaranteed interest, stable value, and annuities. This segment includes group benefits, and retirement and income solutions (RIS) businesses. The Group Benefits business consists of life insurance, dental, group short- and long-term disability (LTD), individual disability, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, vision, accident and health insurance, and pet insurance. The RIS business provides funding and financing solutions to institutional customers to mitigate and manage liabilities associated with their employee benefit programs using annuity-based insurance and investment products. The Asia segment offers products such as accident and health products comprising medical reimbursement, hospitalization, cancer, critical illness, disability, income protection, personal accident coverage, and group health products. The company’s Latin America segment provides insurance products to individuals, corporations, and other institutions including local, state and federal governments. The EMEA segment covers traditional and non-traditional life insurance products such as whole and term life, endowments and variable life products, and group term life programs. The MetLife Holdings segment includes fixed and index-linked annuities, and long-term care insurance.
