Gerresheimer is delighted to announce it was presented with the Best Supplier Award from its business partner Mäurer & Wirtz last month.
The award and the accompanying event were a way for Mäurer & Wirtz to express how much it values having reliable, productive business relationships with its suppliers, which allow for jointly achieving superlative products and services for customers and brands.
Gerresheimer, which supplies Mäurer & Wirtz with glass flacons, performed particularly well last year.
Excellence in collaboration
Mäurer & Wirtz head of procurement, packaging and indirect spend Michael Reimes said: "Strategic partnerships are of decisive importance for Mäurer & Wirtz, which is why we continuously carry out reviews of our supplier relationships.
"Gerresheimer is an important partner for our House of Fragrances, and last year demonstrated above-average commitment and absolute reliability.
"We are grateful for the very good business relationship and look forward to building on that collaboration in future".
Comprehensive supplier review
The Best Supplier Award is based on a supplier review, which is carried out by Mäurer & Wirtz each year.
The review identifies the areas of development and particular successes of all suppliers.
The criteria used for the review are controlled by various departments at Mäurer & Wirtz: Procurement assesses topics such as price, pricing transparency and negotiation behaviour, while Packaging checks criteria such as time to market and technical features.
Supply Chain Management looks at areas such as punctuality and adherence to quantity as well as the number of complaints.
Winner for services provided in 2016: Gerresheimer
Gerresheimer, which manufactures primary packaging made of specialty glass and plastic, won this year’s award because it had met all the criteria in full and proved impressive in all areas of cooperation.
This is particularly challenging, given that glass is part of a technically sophisticated product group, which has to undergo a great deal of development and moulding as well as various finishing processes.
The product group is also extremely important as it represents a high purchasing volume.
Glass flacons – a fragile commodity
Gerresheimer has undertaken a number of projects for Mäurer & Wirtz in the past.
Recently, the glass supplier produced the bottles for the successful s.Oliver For Her & For Him concept.
It also makes bottles for the Otto Kern brand and the classic 4711 Original Eau de Cologne and Tosca.
Gerresheimer senior director sales cosmetics Bernd Stauch said: "From getting the first technical drawing through to producing the finished bottle, for me, every project with Mäurer & Wirtz has been a real highlight.
"The business relationship that we have with Mäurer & Wirtz is a great success for us, as we have worked really hard to achieve recognition.
"We are therefore extremely proud of this award: it represents a confirmation of all the work that we have done at Gerresheimer and that we will continue to do with a high level of commitment."
The award ceremony
In addition to the award, the services of Gerresheimer were also honoured with an accompanying programme, which included a fragrance seminar, a tour of Cologne city centre and an evening meal in the Hotel Excelsior Ernst.
The Best Supplier Award aims to provide the suppliers of Mäurer & Wirtz with an incentive to perform at the best possible level, and based on the results of the supplier review, to constantly work on developing and optimising their collaboration with Mäurer & Wirtz.
