Global pharmaceutical solutions provider, Origin, has announced the opening of a new high-capacity aseptic facility for filling, labelling and packaging IVD’s and healthcare products in Melton, East Riding of Yorkshire.
Demand for Life Sciences and Diagnostics is emerging quickly and fiercely, spurred on by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. The UK is rapidly expanding as a world leader in these two industries and has demonstrated its knowledge and capabilities in the global response to the pandemic across testing, diagnostics, and the development of treatments.
However, to continue to excel in these industries and lead the way in global scientific advancement, the UK must build on its aseptic filling capabilities.
In response, Origin has invested in a market-leading aseptic filling facility at its HQ in Yorkshire, which includes seven ISO 5 (Class 100) cleanroom environments and an ISO 7 (Class 10,000) packaging hall.
This state-of-the-art liquid filling facility has been specifically designed to meet and surpass the stringent regulations laid out by ISO standards, ensuring that it consistently provides suitable and versatile environments for aseptic filling.
Achieving ISO 5 standards in the facility has been made possible through a reliable and undisrupted supply of HEPA filtered air whilst operating under positive pressure. The result is a cutting-edge space dedicated to the automated filling of liquid vials, which with the careful application of microbiological contamination control principles avoids any harmful bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms from entering.
Both UK and international Life Sciences and Diagnostics industries will benefit from a full-service product development service Origin can now provide. This includes design, innovation, development, and aseptic filling – helping customers keep to strict commercial schedules and deliver compliant and safe products ready to market to consumers.
So too will clients in the wider health and wellbeing space producing liquid products – the facility can deliver all forms of bespoke cleanroom manufacture projects.
The announcement follows the unveiling of Origin’s new state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, creating more stock holding for Origin’s UK and international pharmaceutical clients, as well as its own manufactured products that are supplied globally.
This larger warehouse capacity will enable Origin to create a more efficient pharma packaging supply chain in the long term and protect against delays caused by Brexit and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the short term.
It will also help the company serve a growing client base who are seeking ISO 15378 pharma standard storage space.
