JRS Pharma offers a wide range of excipients and tablet coatings, as well as technical support and biopharma services to the health science industry.
The company provides drug manufacturers a variety of solutions for oral dosage forms, including several innovations developed by JRS’ research and development team.
High-functionality excipients for simplified formulation development
High-functionality excipients (HFE) help simplify the formulation of oral dosage forms, improving overall costs and preserving quality. They are multifunctional, do not require complex processing, and have high-inherent functional performance, which they impart on the entire formulation.
PROSOLV® SMCC is a co-processed combination of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and colloidal silicon dioxide (CSD). This HFE is unique in that it imparts both optimum compaction and superior flow to formulations. The production process of PROSOLV® SMCC leads to a finer size distribution of CSD particles. This results in increases in surface area and compaction when compared to traditional MCC. Formulations containing PROSOLV® SMCC produce distinctive, uniform, and cost-effective tablets.
Binders for solid drug dose formulations
JRS Pharma’s line of wet and dry binders keep drug components together, achieving a sturdy solid dose formulation.
MCC products EMCOCEL® and VIVAPUR® have a wide range of benefits for formulations, including high compactability, high-production yields, cost savings, and compatibility with most active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
Superdisintegrants for improved disintegration efficiency
JRS Pharma’s superdisintegrants offer improved efficiency of dosage dissolution in water. VIVASTAR® and EXPLOTAB® are made from potato starch. They are low-cost, high-performance superdisintegrants, which quickly swell in contact with water. In addition, their spherical structure improves flow and they are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry for poor water-soluble actives.
Lubricants for improved API stability
JRS Pharma’s lubricants are designed to reduce the force required to eject a compressed tablet form the die cavity of the tablet press. Lubricants can also be used in capsule filling performing essentially the same function by reducing the force needed to transfer the plug from the dosator into the capsules.
PRUV®, sodium stearyl fumarate, is designed for formulations in which other lubricants lead to formulation and/or manufacturing challenges. This specialised product exhibits a high degree of API compatibility and robustness to over-lubrication compared to magnesium stearate.
All-in-one tablet coating system
JRS Pharma’s VIVACOAT® is an all-in-one, ready-to-use tablet coating system. It provides a high quality, product-specific coating with batch-to-batch color consistency. VIVACOAT® is available in four grades: VIVACOAT® A for high adhesion, VIVACOAT® M for moisture barriers, VIVACOAT® X for extra elegance, and VIVACOAT® C for customised formulations.
These coatings are all fully formulated and produced at the highest quality standards. Free technical support is available.
