Canada’s pharma industry registered an 8.7% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.84% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.64% share in September 2022, recording an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in September 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 37.65% in September 2022, registering a 39.13% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 24.71% share, a decrease of 4.55% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 16.47%, registering a 40% rise from August 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 14.12%, down 42.86% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 37.21% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 36 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 12.5% over the previous month, followed by Syneos Health with 8 jobs and a 300% growth. Vancouver Coastal Health with 5 IT jobs and Alimentiv with 5 jobs, recorded a 16.67% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Sanofi recorded an increase of 66.67% with 5 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.41%, up by 5.36% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22.35% share, registered an increase of 26.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.06% share, down 62.5% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.18%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
