The top five companies accounted for 15% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Immatics filed the most immuno-oncology patents within the pharmaceutical industry in Q3 2024. The company filed 22 immuno-oncology-related patents in the quarter, compared with 26 in the previous quarter. It was followed by University of Texas System with 10 immuno-oncology patent filings, Roche (6 filings), and Miltenyi Biotec BV (6 filings) in Q3 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 62% share of total patent filings
The largest share of immuno-oncology related patent filings in the pharmaceutical industry in Q3 2024 was in the US with 62%, followed by China (8%) and Australia (6%). The share represented by the US was 22% higher than the 40% share it accounted for in Q2 2024.
