Digital privacy and data security were listed as the primary concern by healthcare organisations across various geographies amid increasing pace of digital transformation.
GlobalData conducted a survey in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions to identify the main issues that hinder digital transformation in the industry.
A Closer Look at Concerns, by Geography
The survey found that nearly half of the respondents from Asia-Pacific are worried about digital privacy and data security. The figure stood at 33% in North America and 38% in Europe.
Unclear return on investment emerged as the second biggest concern with 26% of respondents from Europe, 22% from North America and 14% from Asia-Pacific highlighting it.
Around 13% of respondents each from North America and Europe opined increased cyber risks as the top concern associated with digital transformation. The figure stood at 7% in Asia-Pacific.

By GlobalDataApproximately 11%, 10% and 7% of respondents from North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, respectively, feared never-ending change due to digital transformation as the top concern.
Additionally, 14% of surveyed companies from North America listed evolving regulatory requirements as their primary concern. The percentage was 7% and 6% for Asia-Pacific and Europe, respectively.
Around 7% of respondents from Asia-Pacific, 5% from North America and 3% from Europe cited other concerns.
Notably, the remaining 7% surveyed organisations in Asia-Pacific responded ‘Don’t Know’ when asked about digital transformation concerns. The figure was much less in Europe and North America at 4% and 2% respectively.
The responses are based on Digital Transformation and Emerging Technology in the Healthcare Industry, 2020 survey fielded between 17 September 2020 and 6 October 2020.
